Our client, a Fintech company in Limassol, is looking to recruit a Senior Accountant.

Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping

  • Ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions and records in the accounting books.
  • Conducting audits to identify and correct errors.

Financial Reporting

  • Preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).

Financial Data Analysis

  • Analyzing financial data to identify key metrics and trends.
  • Preparing reports with conclusions and recommendations for management.

Payroll Processing

  • Calculating salaries, taxes, and social contributions for company employees.
  • Preparing employee declarations, such as IR 63.

Tax Accounting and Reporting

  • Preparing tax returns, calculating taxes, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax legislation requirements.

Internal Procedures and Policy Oversight

  • Developing and implementing standards and procedures to improve accounting efficiency.
  • Monitoring compliance with established standards and internal policies.

Collaboration with External Auditors

  • Preparing and providing necessary information and documentation for external audits.
  • Supporting and coordinating audit processes.

Supervision and Mentorship of Junior Accountants

  • Assisting junior accountants with their tasks, providing training and guidance.
  • Monitoring task completion by junior staff and helping resolve complex issues.

Optimization of Accounting Processes

  • Identifying and implementing solutions for accounting automation.
  • Improving workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Consulting and Supporting Management

  • Providing advice and analytical data to support management decisions.
  • Preparing financial reports and presentations for management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, or CPA are preferred.
  • Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis in financial companies.
  • Practical knowledge and hands-on experience with Cypriot tax legislation, payroll procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with preparing employee declarations, including IR63 forms.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting standards.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and present actionable insights.
  • Experience in optimizing and automating accounting processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of Greek is a plus).
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising junior accountants.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and bookkeeping.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cypriot tax and compliance laws, ensuring strict adherence to local regulations.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in handling financial data.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and regulatory changes.
  • Previous experience working in international or rapidly changing environments.
  • Exposure to external audit processes and financial presentations for senior management.

Working hours:

  • The working hours are Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm with one hour lunch break (office-based position, not remote).
