Our client, a Japanese owned Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM), based in Nicosia, is looking for a Compliance & AML Officer to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and updating the Company’s policies, procedures, AML manual and clients’ acceptance policy
- Conducting periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed
- Implementing the Company’s Compliance Monitoring Program
- Ensuring that the Company’s employees receive the requisite training in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
- Ensuring that the Company complies with Cyprus and EU laws, regulations and directives issued by CySEC, and its continuous obligations to CySEC
- Providing support and guidance to all functions of the Company in relation to various regulatory matters
- Tracking regulatory changes and ensure that needed changes are implemented in a timely manner
- Maintain and oversee the Company’s Compliance and AML framework in line with CySEC and EU regulations
- Act as the Company’s primary liaison with regulators
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to CySEC and annual compliance/AML reports for the Board
- Conduct KYC/CDD, risk assessments, and transaction monitoring for investors, with a focus on international clients
- Manage investigations and reporting of suspicious transactions in accordance with AML laws
- Liaise with external lawyers and advisors on matters involving international investors
- Support fund operations (AIF and RAIF sub-funds) ensuring compliance across fund structures
- Advise staff on compliance and AML matters as needed
Requirements:
- Degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or related field
- CySEC Advanced Certification will be considered an advantage
- 5 years of experience in a similar role preferably within an AIFM, investment firm, or financial institution
- Strong knowledge of EU and Cyprus financial regulations, including AIFMD, MiFID II, AML legislation and CySEC directives
- Proven experience managing KYC/CDD, risk assessments, transaction monitoring and reporting to regulators
- Experience liaising with regulators, external advisors and international investors
- Excellent computer literacy
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail
- High integrity, discretion, and ability to work independently
- Fluency in Greek and English, both written and verbal
