Job Description:
As a Vice President of Engineering, you'll oversee all aspects of our company's technical strategy and implementation. We develop a wide range of products and services offered on a number of trading platforms, and we have the ambitious mission to make trading accessible to anyone, anywhere. With over two million clients worldwide, executing over 150 transactions per second, we manage over 130 servers and hundreds of terabytes of databases, which leads to a number of technical and system architecture challenges upon which to apply your skills and talents. What's more, you'll need to lead large teams who collaborate across time zones from the various offices on four continents as well as telecommuters. You'll provide technical direction to an IT team of over 150 developers, devise technological strategies, and plan our software architecture. With your deep understanding of building digital products and software development, you will help gain an edge over competitors in innovation, security, and business procedures.
Your challenges:
Set technical direction and execute plans in alignment with our exponential growth. We are aiming for ten times higher scalability, lower latency from any country in the world, higher security, and 24/7 high availability.
Provide technical leadership by creating strong coding standards, maintaining technical design documents, and developing operational concepts and interfaces.
Build and mentor a successful engineering team and encourage them to follow best practices and deliver high-quality work: set objectives, review performance, produce career development plans, address concerns, and in short, be the leader that your talented team deserves.
Share technical vision and strategies with the senior management team; recommend and implement innovative technologies, tools, and processes to improve the way we work.
Research cutting edge technologies applicable to the fintech industry and constantly refactor the infrastructure to be at the forefront of technological advances so that no part of the system becomes legacy.
Requirements:
University degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field
20+ years of experience
Successful leadership experience in managing large teams
Strong technical abilities in all aspects of your field, including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and other cloud technologies
Deep experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL
Strong software development skills in C++, PHP, or other languages.
Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
