Our client is an EMI (Electronic Money Institute) and they are looking to recruit a Chief Legal and Compliance Officer (CLO) for their office in Limassol.  The company is offering innovative payment services for private and corporate clients from Europe and the UK and they are looking for someone with Fintech / Banks / EMI’s / PSP experience, who can also cover compliance matters etc.  The role could start in a part-time capacity. The Chief Legal and Compliance Officer will be an active member of the management team and will help guide the company through the licencing process, with regards to legal matters. 

Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal advice to the Company’s management team, and the Company’s Board of Directors for any legal matters that may arise
  • Ensuring the legality of the Company’s business practices and the Company’s compliance with applicable rules and regulations
  • Researching, anticipating, and guarding the Company against legal risks
  • Drafting, revising, negotiating, and concluding any type of legal agreement
  • Developing company policies on an array of matters
  • Prepare and review Corporate Agreements such as Sale and Purchase Agreements, Resolutions, Shareholders’ Agreements, Trusts and Memorandum, and Articles of Associations
  • Preparation of forms to be submitted to the Central Bank of Cyprus
  • Assessing the impact of forthcoming regulations issued on national, European, and international levels
  • Becoming involved in any ad-hoc projects and providing advice accordingly

Qualifications

  • Legal degree (must)
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Chief Legal Officer
  • AML / Compliance experience
  • Experienced in financial services or other related industries (Fintech / Banks / EMI’s / PSP)
  • Experience in a regulated environment is an advantage
  • Good knowledge of Cyprus and EU legislation
  • Excellent English and Greek skills
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and multicultural environment
  • Communication and organisational skills, meeting strict deadlines in tasks
  • Motivation and dedication to self-development Creative approach for nonstandard tasks and situations
  • Willing to be a registered Director of the company.
