Our client is an international Distributor of Energy Systems and they are looking for a dedicated Assistant Technician.
Responsibilities:
- General Support & Applications
- Assist Service Technicians in servicing medium and high-speed engines across various applications (marine, mining, power generation, etc.).
- Support hands-on execution of mechanical works under supervision.
- Assist during emergency and on-call interventions when required.
- Prepare tools, equipment, and work areas prior to task execution.
- Basic Troubleshooting Support
- Assist in inspecting machinery, engines, and components for visible faults or irregularities.
- Support diagnostic processes by preparing tools and recording findings.
- Follow instructions in troubleshooting activities and assist in identifying issues.
- Refer to manuals and technical documentation under guidance.
- Maintenance, Repairs & Installations
- Assist in assembling and disassembling mechanical components.
- Support routine maintenance tasks (cleaning, replacing basic parts, tightening, etc.).
- Assist in repair activities ensuring tools and materials are available.
- Handle basic mechanical tasks under supervision (e.g., filter changes, hose replacement).
- Assist in preparation and organisation of parts and equipment for jobs.
- Support safe handling of tools, parts, and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workshop and worksite.
- Fluids and Lubricants
- Assist in cleaning and applying lubricants and coolants as directed.
- Support replenishment of fluids in engines and machinery.
- Assist in safe handling, storage, and disposal of oils, fuels, and lubricants.
- Follow environmental and safety procedures when handling chemicals.
- Customer Interaction (Basic Level)
- Maintain professional behaviour when present on client sites.
- Support Service Technician during customer interactions.
- Avoid independent technical advice unless instructed.
- Organisation & Reporting
- Follow assigned schedules and instructions from supervisors.
- Work effectively as part of a team.
- Maintain punctuality and a clean working environment.
- Assist in recording basic job data (photos, readings, checklists).
- Report issues, damages, or risks immediately to the Service Technician or Supervisor.
- Follow company procedures, hierarchy, and safety requirements.
- Assist with additional workshop or site duties as required.
- Comply with all Health & Safety requirements and instructions.
Requirements:
- Basic technical education (e.g., Technical School / MCAST or equivalent)
- Mechanical or engineering-related studies preferred
- Basic H&S training (or willingness to obtain)
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (or apprenticeship)
- Exposure to mechanical environments is an asset but not essential
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools
- Ability to use hand tools safely
- Basic knowledge of engines or machinery (preferred)
- Willingness to learn diagnostics and repair techniques
- Willingness to learn and take instructions
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Responsible and reliable attitude
- Attention to detail
- Physically fit for manual work
- Ability to work flexible hours when required
- Willingness to travel locally (and potentially overseas in future)
- Fluent English skills
- Experience with MTU engines is a plus
Working Hours:
The working hours are 40 hours a week, 8am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (overtime if it is required), from which 50% in the workshop in Limassol and 50% onboard vessels in Cyprus only (no remote work).
