This professional law firm and fiduciary services provider in Nicosia is looking for an Accountant. The candidate must have handled a portfolio of international clients during his experience and thus being able to liaise with auditors and clients. We do not expect the candidate to have advanced knowledge of tax matters or accounting/audit matters, as he/she will be assisted on such matters. This will also be tested during the interview in order for the client to be able to understand what the level of knowledge he/she is on accounting and tax matters, to understand if he/she will be suitable for the team.

Responsibilities:

  • General Bookkeeping duties: Responsible for keeping proper books of accounts and financial records (i.e. Banks, purchase and sales invoices, payroll accounting, vat, vendors and creditors, provisions, inter-company transactions, revaluations, close year, dividends, resolutions etc).
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns and VIES
  • Knowledge and handling of Tax matters 
  • Conducting regular bank reconciliations
  • Dealing with financial paperwork and filing
  • Auditors’ assistance in the form of providing explanations and documentation to the auditors
  • Any other duties allocated by the Head of the Department

Requirements:

  • Ideally educated with Degree level in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the field of accounting
  • Good accounting knowledge (i.e. Both in theory and technical aspects)
  • Basic Cyprus tax knowledge (i.e. To have some prior work experience)
  • Experience in International Accounting will be considered as an advantage
  • To be able to supervise lower level/position employees within the department (i.e. When and if required to do so)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Knowledge of Caseware (reporting software) and E-soft (accounting and stock control software) will be considered as an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English (Written & Spoken)
  • Greek skills are an advantage
  • Team spirit and willingness to develop
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Good team player with a strong work ethic
  • Professionalism 

Working hours:

The working hours are Monday to Thursday from 8:30 – 17:30 and Friday 8:30-15:00 with 1 hour lunch break between 13:00-14:00. A smoking scheme applies for a total of 15 minutes per day.
